About the Role:
Proyecto Salud Clinic located in Silver Spring, MD is looking for a motivated and compassionate Medical Administrative Assistant / Front Desk Staff to join our team. Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in patients at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and process billing and co-pays
- Ensures patients' fees are collected according to sliding fee scale and accounting policies
- Maintain and update accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Answer and route incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to clinical staff
- Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments as needed
- Explains policies, procedures and services available to patients.
- Ensure front desk area is organized, stocked, and HIPAA-compliant at all times
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
- 1+ years of experience in a medical office, healthcare, or administrative support role
- 1+ years of experience in Customer Service
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm in a busy front desk environment
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus
- Medical Assistant certificate a plus.

Compensation: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
